Hosting Website Update

Hmmm.  Well, I’m trying to get ready to go on vacation on Friday (just a stay at home and away from the computer sort of holiday), and so I have a million things to do.  I had hoped to have some more stuff up on here and some pages more completely finished, but that doesn’t look very likely at this point.

Things coming up:

Will continue to work on my “how to pick a host” page, my “traffic building” and “design tips” pages.

Netfirms, after happily agreeing to answer my questions about their grid hosting has not sent me a response.

I’m going to buy a car today.  Okay, that has nothing to do with hosting a website, but I thought I’d mention it.

Have a non-review of one.com hosting coming up.  They promise the unthinkable and charge $1.45 per month for it.  Don’t get too excited.

Have a long-overdue review of Lunarpages coming up.  I’ve been testing them for about six months now.  I think they are pretty solid.

Same thing, sort of, goes for DreamHost.  I’ve been there about a year and haven’t bothered to do much with it.

I have an article on Jumpline.com Web Hosting, mostly finished, that I hope to schedule to post while I’m on vacation just to keep the site a little fresh while I’m gone.  Jumpline does some interesting things that you can’t find at other shared hosting company that I’m aware of.  You can actually pick how many other sites share your server.  Cool, huh?

Outside of that, I still need to go back and refine the hosting reviews that I’ve already done, make certain that they all follow the same format, and make sure that my standards for rating each category are consistent.

And, of course, though it matters not to you ; )p   I need to do some marketing and SEO work so that people can find this site.  It’s so brand new that there isn’t a whole lot you can do.  You just have to keep marching slowly along until you hit that magical 6 month point.  Then you can do just about anything.

So there you have it.  Plans aplenty for the next few weeks.
